4 months....this Momma is behind!!

"Mommyhood" and the holidays have gotten the best of me! I am several weeks behind posting Sawyer's 4 month update. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas and that 2013 is an amazing year for all!!!

4 MONTHS!

These 4 months have hands down been the BEST 4 months of my life. It is totally amazing that I have been blessed with you as my child! You are growing like a weed Saw-man! Where has my tiny little baby boy gone?

You totally amaze me. You complete me. You make me excited to wake up in the mornings to see your sweet face. Your kisses melt my heart. YOU are my WORLD. I occasionally look at your Daddy and thank him for giving me you just as I thank God every single day and night. Your Daddy loves you, he adores you – you are also his whole world!!!!

You still look just like your Daddy -you are changing everyday. AND.... I am not gonna lie to you I am still holding out a little hope that you have some of your momma in you! I think you have my eyes and lips so far. Your little smile lights up the whole room, your “B” tells you all the time what a “pretty little smile” you have.

There were a lot of “firsts” this month for you!

1.    You celebrated your FIRST THANKSGIVING
2.    You attended your FIRST birthday party for a sweet friend
3.    You had to visit the doctors office for your FIRST after hours visit…booo! That nasty cold is still hanging around.
4.    Your Daddy kept you overnight while your mommy stayed out all night doing a little “black Friday” shopping
5.    You took your FIRST trip to Gatlinburg with your best buddy Crue
6.    You helped celebrate your Mommy’s 28th Birthday (shhhhh…don’t tell anyone, your Mommy is getting OLD)
7.    You tried our your johnny jump up for the FIRST time
8.    You have enjoyed playing in your jumparoo
9.    You went to your FIRST Zoolight Safari at the Birmingham Zoo and you officially hated it, cried the entire time!
10. Participated in your FIRST pajama day at school, you wore your elf pajamas!

You are trying to talk to us all of the time and you are even laughing out loud! We love it!

You are still sleeping every night right beside Mommy and Daddy in the pack n’ play/nap nanny or in your snugabunny rocker beside our bed. Your very favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. You are still NOT a good napper – you take “cat naps” and most of them last no longer than 30 mins or so, you are really enjoying your naps these days while being held…the second you get put down those eyes pop open. Most nights you are sleeping anywhere 8-10 hours or so before waking up for a feeding!! Most of the time you still taking 4 oz every 2 ½ to 3 hours. You still LOVE your baths and you take a bath at night around 7:30 – 8:00 and its always with mommy. You will not take a paci, I give up!!! You are still in a size one diaper and and 3-6 month clothes you weigh approximately 14 lbs. now…the same as last month. You are only in the 20th percentile for your weight, we gotta fatten you up J Your eyes are still blue, YAY! You are getting a little hair, finally!  You have super strong little legs and you are holding your head up so well and doing lots of tummy time.

1.    Nicknames for you so far  “Saw man” (most popular), “monkey” “monk monk”, “fat face”, “BOY”, “saw”, “buddy bud”, “little man”  and your Daddy has recently started calling you – “stink”

The words to this book describe my love for you Sawyer Maddox. I can’t wait to read this book to you over and over. Santa brought this recordable storybook to you and Mommy is going to record her voice reading it so you will have it forever and ever!

Here is the beautiful, moving text in its entirety:

I wanted you more
than you ever will know
so I sent love to follow
wherever you go.
It's high as you wish it. It's quick as an elf.
You'll never outgrow it...it stretches itself!

So climb any mountain...
climb up to the sky!
My love will find you.
My love can fly!

Make a big splash!  Go out on a limb!
My love will find you.  My love can swim!

It never gets lost, never fades, never ends...

if you're working...

or playing...

or sitting with friends.

You can dance 'til you're dizzy...

paint 'til you're blue...

There's no place, not one,
that my love can't find you.

And if someday you're lonely,
or someday you're sad,
or you strike out at baseball,
or think you've been bad...

just lift up your face, feel the wind in your hair.
That's me, my sweet baby, my love is right there.

In the green of the grass...in the smell of the sea...
in the clouds floating by...at the top of a tree...
in the sound crickets make at the end of the day...

"You are loved.  You are loved.  You are loved," they all say.

My love is so high, and so wide and
so deep, it's always right there, even
when you're asleep.

So hold your head high
and don't be afraid
to march to the front
of your own parade.

If you're still my small babe
or you're all the way grown,
my promise to you
is you're never alone.

You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
wherever you are.

You are loved.

Happy 3 Months Sawyer!!!

3 MONTHS!

This cannot be? Surely my sweet Sawyer is not already 3 months old!! Ahhhhh!!!

I am loving every single minute of being your mommy. I was just telling your daddy last night that each day when I look at you I still cannot believe you are mine. I am thankful that God chose us to be your parents. You are one amazing gift from above. Three months ago on this exact day you made my world complete!

Let’s clear this up, you still look JUST like your daddy and you are PERFECT just the way you are. Everyone says so! But you must know that I examine you each day to see if you are changing at all, still holding out a little hope that you have some of your momma in you J I think you have my eyes and lips so far.

There were a lot of “firsts” this month for you!

“Baby School” – You started your very first day of Noah’s Park on Monday, November 5, 2012 and you did GREAT. Mommy, not so much….whew that was a rough day and week for me. I love your precious teachers Ms. Donna and Ms. Beth, they are amazing and they love you so very much!

You are still sleeping every night right beside Mommy and Daddy in the pack n’ play/nap nanny or in your snugabunny rocker beside our bed. You are not really into swinging in your swing anymore. Your very favorite place to be is  STILL on your changing table – you LOVE it. If you are fussy at all we just take you into your room and lay you on your changing table and you are always perfectly content. You are NOT a good napper – you take “cat naps” and most of them last no longer than 30 mins or so! But mommy can’t complain because you are a WONDERFUL sleeper at night. Most nights you are sleeping anywhere 10 hours or so before waking up for a feeding!! Most of the time you are  still taking between 3-4 oz every 2 ½ to 3 hours, you are really the same as last month with your eating. You still LOVE your baths and you take a bath at night around 7:30 – 8:00 and its always with mommy.  You love to be in the tub – now you get that from me sometimes we are even staying in for 30 minutes at a time! You are becoming fonder of your paci and you do like your paci. You are still in a size one diaper and and 3-6 month clothes you weigh approximately 14 lbs. now…big boy! You sure are growing! Your eyes are still blue and we crossing our fingers that they stay that way. Still no hair…mommy can’t wait for you to get some! You have super strong little legs and you are holding your head up so well.

Sawyer is TWO months old!

TWO MONTHS!

Where does time go? It is surely flying by!! Sawyer it is so hard to believe that you are already 2 months old. Today is October 17th and at 12:20 pm on August 17th we received the most wonderful gift- YOU! Your daddy and I are thoroughly enjoying you little guy, you are the best thing that we have ever done in our entire life!!! God has blessed us with a perfect baby boy!!!

This is a very sad post for mommy because this was my last full month at home with you. Mommy has to return to work in just a few short weeks on November the 1st L Each day when I wake up in the morning I am realizing that its one day closer to having to leave you at daycare and one day closer to me returning to work. I have been super lucky to have such a long time off work to spend with you and I am very thankful for such a wonderful job, but I already know that November 1st will be one of the hardest days of my life thus far. You feel sure that you will be in great hands at Noah’s Park and make lots of friends!!!

In your second month of life you have stayed alone with your Daddy and also spent some time with each set of your grandparents while mommy and daddy spent some time together! You did great each time and they all sure enjoyed keeping you! You are still sleeping every night right beside Mommy and Daddy in the pack n’ play/nap nanny or in your snugabunny rocker beside our bed. You like to swing in your swing and play on your activity mat, but most of all your very favorite place to be is on your changing table – you LOVE it. If you are fussy at all we just take you into your room and lay you on your changing table and you are always perfectly content. Your still not really into being along, its just not your thing – once you realize that your in your crib for a nap and I’m not there you go to screaming, I think you did set a record this month of being in your crib for a 3 hour nap, that did happen ONE time! Before 7 weeks or so you were still not sleeping great, but after advice from friends we tried swaddling you back up at night in the velcro swaddles and you are now doing sooooo much better. Most nights you are sleeping anywhere from 7-8 hours before waking up for a feeding!! You are not as much of hungry little bear as you were last month! I am thinking that you are over your “feeding frenzy” as Dr. Harmon described to us. Most of the time you are still taking between 3-4 oz every 2 ½ to 3 hours. You went through a spell where you would only take about 2 oz for us and then quit. Ohhhh and you are one heck of a “pooter” your “poots” are as loud and long as some adults poots, and guess what….they STINK! Last month I was bragging because they didn’t stink! I still call them your “pooty poots.” And whoa have you ever had some BLOW OUT poops in this last month. One time you even pooped through your outfit onto your Papa Jo Jo (he still hasn’t decided his name for sure, but that’s okay we know you will call him what you want too). He was a trooper and cleaned you up! Then mommy got one that went up your front and even made it to your belly button, ewwwww…..straight to the bathtub you went! Speaking of baths….you still LOVE your baths and you take a bath at night around 9:00 – 9:30 and its always with mommy now. You love to be in the tub – now you get that from me sometimes we are even staying in for 30 minutes at a time! You are becoming more fond of your paci and you do like your paci. You are now in a size one diaper and and 0-3 month clothes you weigh approximately 12 lbs. now….WOW! Your eyes are still blue and we crossing our fingers that they stay that way. Still no hair…mommy can’t wait for you to get some! You have super strong little legs and you are holding your head up so well. You go for your 2 month check up this Thursday and we will see how much you have grown length wise.

1.    Nicknames for you so far  “Saw man” (most popular), "Saw bear" (your daddy HATES this one- but any of you that have seen "Honey Boo Boo" know that I got it from Sugar Bear, lol) “monkey” , “hungry bear”, “chunky monkey”, “little buddy”, “saw”, “buddy bud”, “little man”

Sawyer you continue to bless our lives daily. We cannot imagine what we did before you? And we cannot imagine a life of this earth without you in it! God is so good and we feel blessed beyond words. We promise to always strive to be the very best parents that we can be and to raise you to know and love the Lord. Happy 2 Months Sawyer Maddox Leith!!!
